Spiderman Homecoming - Stark VTOL

Director: Jon Watts
Production Designer: Oliver Scholl

This was conceived of as a military transport aircraft, built by Stark Industries, and roughly equivalent to a Boeing C-17 Globemaster but with a VTOL capability. The intent was to come up with something that was believable as a functional aircraft. I don't know if it would really work, but hopefully it looks like it would.

I worked closely with Oliver Scholl on the development, and several configurations were explored. I love airplanes, so it was a lot of fun!

The cockpit and nose section had to match an existing set piece that was available to the production – or at least that’s what I remember. The rest of the plane was invented.
